When Finch fits

Finch is worth considering if caring for a small virtual companion makes your daily routine more inviting. Its new user guide describes goals that give your pet energy, adventures, reflection exercises, breathing tools and focus timers. That combination can suit someone who wants several self-care activities in one place.

Finch also supports doing goals with friends. Goal Buddies lets two friends share a daily recurring goal and see each other's progress. Accountability Buddies lets you share goal progress with selected friends for encouragement. If you already enjoy Finch, those features may cover the support you want.

When Quests fits

Quests fits a group that wants to choose a challenge together, invite friends and see everyone showing up along the way. A check-in can include a photo or reflection. Friends can respond through reactions, comments and Sparks, while the milestone path gives the challenge a visible journey.

The starting point can be small: read a few pages, take a walk or make time to meditate. The Quests product guide explains the daily experience, rewards and downloads.

One example: making time to read

For a personal reading routine, you might add a daily goal in Finch and connect it to the pet experience you already enjoy. A Goal Buddy can join the same recurring goal if you want one friend alongside you.

For a reading group, you could create a seven-day Quest, agree to read ten minutes each day and invite your friends. Each person checks in after reading and can add a short reflection. The shared challenge gives the group a place to see participation and talk about the experience.

Choose the experience your friends will enjoy opening. If your group wants help setting up its first round, follow our guide to starting a Quest with friends.

Free features and optional subscriptions

Finch's free features and Plus guide describes the core pet, goals and reflections available for free, alongside paid customization and additional options. Quests is free to download and offers optional Pro and in-app purchases. Check each app's current store or in-app offer for pricing and included features.

Which should you choose?

Choose Finch if the pet companion and self-care activities are what draw you in. Consider Quests if your priority is a shared challenge with friends, a milestone journey and check-ins you can respond to together. Both approaches can make room for encouragement; the daily experience is the deciding factor.
